One of the best things in type since the foundation of Helvetica, the persecution of Comic Sans, and the comeback of web fonts. (Not that I consider myself as a type nerd or anything.)

Everyone, I’m elated to tell you that Tumblr will be joining Yahoo.

Before touching on how awesome this is, let me try to allay any concerns: We’re not turning purple. Our headquarters isn’t moving. Our team isn’t changing. Our roadmap isn’t changing. And our mission – to empower creators to…

I may not fully understand what DRM is and what exactly it could actually do the web, and I may be a little bit biased since I basically have a knack for consuming and creating things built on open ideologies, but what this sounds like to me is The Man’s whining on how much money he’s not getting from the web when he’s already making tons of money from the web.

I hope The Man is not chugging the table for more (although it is very much like him).

I’m not necessarily dismissing proprietors and their ideologies as evil altogether as I have not really dived in to them, and I totally respect everybody’s right to make a living but if making a living would already mean crossing other people’s rights to consume goods (which they are willing to pay/have paid for) however they want to, that might just be a problem.
